Concert of the chamber choir of Florida Gulf Coast University will be held 11th of May, 7 P.M. in Kaunas St.Peter and Paul Cathedral Basilica.
The Chamber Choir is a mixed, auditioned ensemble open to all students regardless of major at FGCU. In 2014 the choir toured internationally and sang as the featured ensemble on a Saturday evening performance at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna as part of the Kunst & Kultur series. The ensemble performed in 2013 at the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA) annual conference and in 2015 at the Florida State Music Teachers Association (FSMTA) conference and the Florida Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) conference. They collaborate regularly with community ensembles including Elijah with Opera Naples (2013), Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (2015), and Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with Gulfshore Opera (2016). In September they were named as semi-finalists for the American Prize in Choral Performance – University Division.
In concert repertoire: F.Mendelsohn, A.Bruckner, J. Vitols, E.Ešenvals, M.K.Čiurlionis and contemporary and folk tunes of America.
